Quick note about Immorallive and Porno Dan

So, I see that Porno Dan Leal’s 2D project, Immorllive.com, seems to be a rather well-produced and quite professional 2D porn studio that’s part of the Blowpass Network. Additionally, Porno Dan appears to be an influential member of the porn industry with a reasonably large Twitter following.

I mention these things for context/background and also because it somewhat shapes what my expectations will be for the VR side of Porno Dan’s pornographic efforts.

I haven’t watched his 2D stuff, so I can’t really comment on the quality, but it does give the impression of being some high-quality smut featuring quite a few premiere porn actresses.

So, in other words, it all suggests these folks are not novices to the professional fuck industry. And, it suggests that they may avoid some mistakes that others have made when first entering the VR porn space.

We’ll see…

Quick note about my impression of Immoral Family’s self-description

Okay, so Immoral Family—unlike many studios—actually provides a pretty good explanation of their project here. We get the scoop on horny Dan and his horny “stepson”…and, how the VR scenes that the consumer ultimately watches represent a voyeuristic (3rd person POV) record of what happened during a 2D porn shoot.

I like this fucking concept. A lot! I am not one of these DERP DERP MUH IMMERSION guys.

I think the whole MUH IMMERSION has harmed VR porn development writ large

That’s right. I’ll take it a step further. I’m not convinced this preference represents the majority of the VR porn consumers out there.

It’s impossible to really gather any genuine data on this because the 3rd person POV/voyeuristic body of work doesn’t exist and hasn’t had a chance to organically evolve. There is a way to get a feel—data that could be looked at—but, it’s ultimately not very good data because people are going to those projects primarily expecting 1st person POV: so, no one should be surprised if the 3rd person POV outlier scene  doesn’t get as many downloads…

Anyway…

I know long-time readers here—those who have been following this since the start and actually know what’s up—might be a bit surprised to hear my thoughts about 1st person “immersion” because #findvporn influenced the 1st person POV bias; truncation; framing; squatting cowgirl hoverface, face fetish, etc. There’s those who know what’s up…and, then there’s $ubreddits.

I was hoping—and still hope—that some major player will start exclusively delivering slick, beautifully produced 3rd person POV with multiple distance cuts etc. along with some experimentation along the way. I think the perVRt guy actually (sort of) has the right idea

The fella who does those perVRt scenes and such. You know, he explains that he’s got his own vision/aesthetic of VR porn, and that’s exactly what he’s going to do whether some loudmouths are squawking or not…

So, I draw attention to this stuff for the sake of the studios out there. The ones trying to determine what/how they want their content to be: the aesthetic, approach, camera methods, etc. It’s important for you to understand that you’re much better off reading a site like #findvrporn than listening to those loud forum voices, because they are not representative. I’m telling you..I can speculate about the paid hit jobs on subreddits designed to hurt competitors etc., but we’ll do that in detail another time. Just suffice to say, when you’re dealing with that type of environment, you’re best served trusting none of it.

Props to the innovators and the originals

Anyway, props to the studios and groups who have the good sense to ignore the noise.

Like props to WankzVR who historically has ignored all the irritating online comments of dudes getting apoplectic when the male actor’s hands enter the scene…

Back to the perVRt guy, I think it’s 100% Kool and the Gang that he’s got this vision that he ain’t wavering from, but I do think he needs to deliver that vision with a bit more polish.

So, what are some thoughts about Immoral Family VR’s product

Okay, so for starters, Immoral Family’s got 38 scenes over at VRporn.

And, these scenes are consistent with how Immoral Family describes them. It’s like this: what you see in the headset is a 3D simulation of being on a VR porn set that’s filming a 2D porn movie. You know, conceptually: I LOVE THIS IDEA!

Now, concerning the delivery—the VR porn optical experience—there’s plenty of room for improvement there.

How so?

You know, all the things you’d expect #findvrporn to mention: better clarity, better camera positions, better sound quality, more depth changes, more perspective switches, etc. etc.

Those sort of improvements in no way conflict with this studio’s meta sorta dealio of presenting the 3D reality of a 2D gonzo porn shoot.

Anyway, even presently, it’s good enough to enjoy.

Let’s just touch upon one video for a second

Alexa Gets Tag Teamed by Dan and Stepson While Her Cousin Kate Masturbates – Alexa Flexy Part 3: Okay, so I get it and I like the concept. It’s kinda/sorta a VR porn gonzo-ish approach documenting a kinda/sorta 2D gonzo production making a movie. I LIKE IT! It’s clever.

BUT, with that said…there’s room to improve both the optical clarity and camera positioning. Fun stuff, though.

Weird file size jump

So, for instance…Immoral Family does up to 5K…and, I don’t want to do the whole K discussion again…you can find that elsewhere on this site…but, for instance, I see a 4K check in at 1.1 GB and the 5K at 18 GB, and so…there’s something a little odd going on there, but I’m not going to pursue that at the moment.

More thoughts about Immoral Family VR’s VR porn optical quality?

So, I watched  a few more IF VR scenes: featuring a couple dudes and a couple women.

The scale is fine

And, first things first: to my eyes, the scale is correct. That’s no small matter there. That’s just a very fundamental and important thing that you must get correct if you’re to have any chance of having a watchable product. So, for me, the scale is just fine.

Resolution/general optical clarity

In respect to the resolution/general optical clarity: it’s okay. It crosses the threshold to permit for enjoyment if you’re into this type of content. The work would benefit from a better camera…really, anything to just improve the clarity would make a better product.

You get what’s promised

The whole dealio of VR 3D footage that depicts a 2D shoot: yea, you get that. And, once again: I give props to this creative approach. It’s different and interesting. Sometimes there’s this stout, shaved head muscular guy lingering around with a camcorder in one hand as somebody else fucks…or, he himself is pointing the camcorder as he pumps…like I said, the whole thing is…

Most certainly imperfect but a much appreciated fresh approach

….while not delivered beautifully—is a VERY WELCOME fresh and different approach to a 3D porn scene.
